This Privacy Policy explains how MeasureMyMeal handles information when you use the MeasureMyMeal Android application and related website.

1. Information you provide or create

Depending on the features you use, MeasureMyMeal may process account information, household profile information, meal and pantry records, food photographs, receipt information, notes, nutrition information, expiry information, preferences, feedback and settings.

2. Google sign-in and Firebase

If you sign in with Google, Firebase Authentication is used to authenticate your account. Cloud synchronisation may use Cloud Firestore for user-scoped meal, pantry, usage and notification records. Firebase Cloud Functions may be used for server-side application features.

3. AI processing

Meal, label, receipt or related food information may be sent to an AI service when you choose an AI-powered feature. MeasureMyMeal supports a managed AI route and a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) route.

When you use Bring Your Own Key, your Gemini API key is encrypted and stored locally on your device. MeasureMyMeal does not store that API key in its database or on its servers. Requests made with your own key are subject to Google's applicable Gemini API terms, quotas and billing.

4. Images

The current app stores meal and related images in app-private storage on your device for in-app display. Images may also be processed temporarily when required to perform a feature you request, such as AI food analysis.

5. Health Connect

If you choose to connect Health Connect, MeasureMyMeal may read health and fitness data for the features you explicitly permit. Access depends on the permissions you grant in Android. You can change or revoke Health Connect permissions through Android settings.

6. Purchases

Paid subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed through Google Play Billing. MeasureMyMeal may receive purchase status or entitlement information needed to provide paid features. Payment card details are handled by Google Play and are not stored by MeasureMyMeal.

7. Analytics, diagnostics and security

Where enabled and permitted, MeasureMyMeal may process app interaction, diagnostic or security information to understand app performance, prevent abuse, enforce limits and investigate failures. Firebase services may process technical identifiers and diagnostic information as part of providing these services.

8. Household profiles

The app can support multiple household profiles. Information entered for another household member should only be added where you have an appropriate basis to do so.

9. Data retention

Data is retained only for as long as needed to provide the relevant feature, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, protect the service or support legitimate operational needs.

10. Deleting your account and data

You can use the account and data controls in MeasureMyMeal to request deletion. For instructions and an external deletion route, visit Delete account and data.

11. International processing

Service providers may process information in countries outside the UK. Where required, appropriate legal safeguards should apply to international transfers.

12. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive a copy of certain personal data. You may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

13. AI and nutrition disclaimer

AI-generated food identification, quantities and nutrition estimates may be inaccurate. MeasureMyMeal provides nutrition and wellness information for informational purposes and is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.
